Tutor training 2017


Being a tutor is challenging but very rewarding. It requires team work skills, self-direction and time management.  Students of the first or second year can apply for tutor training. Those who wants to become a tutor need to pass the tutor training. Only those students who complete the tutor training can operate officially as a tutor. There is possible to apply in tutor training only once a year.

All applicants will be invited for an group interview

  • The invitation is sent by e-mail to the applicants school e-mail.
  • The interviews are carried out between 16th of January - 3th of February 2017
  •  Interviewers: representative of ROTKO, head tutuor and a representative of Lapland UAS
  • Interview takes about 30 min / group
  • Interviewers choose the participants to tutor training.

Part 1, Basics of tutoring

The first part of the training focuses on the role of tutor, communication skills, grouping etc..

The program and schedule:

Contact lessons and group work in campus. After the lessons we jump to the bus which takes us to the camp.

Group work will continue throughout the day. In the evening, free time

Feedback discussion, final cleaning and return home


Part 2, specialization studies

The second part of the training student selects and become familiar with at least one of a tutor's specific task by participating in specialization lessons Teaching happens in a classroom and lessons will be held in Rovaniemi and Kemi-Tornio. All contact lessons take place different times so students can specialize to more that one specific task. The duration of contact teaching is about 2 lessons / specialization.
